Update from Ontario II (Schreiber)
Sep 10th, 2010 by admin
A real quick “Hi!” from Schreiber, Ontario…a very nice, small town; population 1,000. And it has a library, with Internet access!!!
Night lows are very close to freezing, but days are generally nice enough for shorts and a t-shirt.
I’ve developed a couple of blisters again…for the first time since B.C./western Alberta. Some pretty big hills here…and one scene that looked amazingly like the scene from the top of the Malahat (Saanich peninsula, Gulf Islands, etc.). This time, it was northern Lake Superior…and some of the small islands just offshore.
Gotta run! 🙂
Thanx again to everyone for your support…and sorry, I just can’t respond to individual comments on the JTFW site right now…will try to get to some of those later.
What a huge undertaking! Take care of those blisters. You’re amazing!!!
I just wanted to thank you for your inspiration when I stopped you on the road. I woke up that morning wanting to quit but not realy paying attention had my coffee and morning smokes as usual but i was on my way to ThunderBay when i saw you.By this point I hadn’t had a smoke since i got in the truck, I wanted to stop but of coarse i was a bit affraid,i wondered what you were up to i knew you weren’t hitch hiking cause you were on the wrong side of the road, i just had to stop i thought maybe you needed help or ride or something ,that maybe there was something i was to help you with. I was so surprised when you said no to the ride. When i stopped to talk to you I just new then It was my time to quit. I know you won’t becoming into Manitouwadge as we are 54 km off the highway 1/2hr up the road from Marathon but Thank you God bless and have a great safe walk.
Just had to respond to Laurie:
THANK YOU, LAURIE! YOUR COMMENT PROVIDES A GREAT DEAL OF INSPIRATION TO ME. WHILE IT IS NOT OUR INTENTION TO ‘FORCE’ ANYBODY TO “QUIT” SMOKING (WE SIMPLY ASK THEM TO DO IT WHERE IT WILL NOT AFFECT ANYONE ELSE, PERIOD), WE ARE ALWAYS DELIGHTED WHEN PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF (LIKE VIRTUALLY ALL SMOKERS) EXPRESS AN INTEREST IN QUITTING. AND IN THIS CASE, WELL…IT WAS ALL JUST A VERY INTERESTING SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES THAT CAUSED US TO MEET LIKE THAT.
I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF LUCK IN QUITTING…AND IF AT FIRST YOU DON’T SUCCEED, TRY…TRY AGAIN. SO MANY EX-SMOKERS HAVE TOLD ME ALONG THE WAY THAT QUITTING SMOKING WAS THE BEST THING THEY EVER DID. SOME HAVE SAID IT WAS THE HARDEST THING THEY EVER DID TOO…BUT NOBODY HAS EVER REGRETTED QUITTING SMOKING!!!
THANKS AGAIN, LAURIE! GREAT TO MEET YOU…AND BEST OF LUCK!
